King Family has some new releases so join us out there the taste! It’s some nice relief after all this horrible hot weather. You can taste at the winery or purchase online. The new releases are: 2011 Viognier (yum, one of my favorite grapes!), 2011 Chardonnay, 2011 Cabernet Franc and 2010 Seven.
They are also offering this year’s “Three”, which is in it’s second year of production. This wine was created by three winemakers: Matthieu Finot of King Family, Emily Pelton of Veritas Winery, and Jake Busching of Grace Estates. It’s a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot and just like last year, it’s selling fast!
If you’re around on a Sunday, consider a picnic at King Family where you can watch the weekly polo game! Every Sunday the game starts at 1:30 (call first since they can’t play if it’s too hot for the horses, or if it rains too much the day before at 434-823-7800) and bring your picnic basket. There is no charge!
Plan to get there before the game starts – the tasting room opens at 11am – so you can enjoy a tasting and choose which wine will go best with your picnic. If you get there after the game starts not to worry – they drive golf carts around with cold bottles for purchase!
