New Year’s Eve in Charlottesville’s Wine Country is a relaxed affair but for those looking to celebrate, there are some options!
The wineries and many restaurants are family-owned and run, so are closed New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, except for the Masked Ball New Year’s Party at Veritas Winery.
As most of the breweries are brewpubs, and many are open both days. You’ll be able to enjoy great local beer and most of the pubs also offer wine by the glass for non beer drinkers. We have heard back from Devils’ Backbone, Wild Wolf, Blue Mountain Brewery and South Street Brewery that they will be open regular hours both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Champion Brewery will be open New Year’s Eve from 12 noon to 6pm, closed New Year’s Day. Some breweries are offering specials and New Year’s Eve parties.
Downtown Charlottesville will have their annual First Night Virginia 2015 which takes place all over the pedestrian walking mall.
If you are here for dinner on New Year’s Eve, we suggest you book something NOW. Some favorites are The Downtown Grille, Fleurie, The Ivy Inn, The Local, Maya, Rapture, Zocolo, Orzo, Boar’s Head Inn, Fossetts at Keswick Hall, and the Clifton Inn. Keep in mind that booking directly with the restaurant rather than a booking website will give you the best tables!
