Things to Do at
Arcady Vineyard B&B
in Charlottesville, Virginia!
Our
first recommendation, of course, is one of our ever-popluar
wine tasting tours which are a one-price all inclusive intimate
tour of four wineries!

Below
are some suggested itineraries.
Historic
Day Itinerary - all within 5 miles of Arcady Vineyard
Monticello
After
our hearty country-fresh breakfast drive just over two miles from
Arcady to Jefferson's home Monticello. If you booked our History
Buff Package you already have a tour time reserved for the mansion
and will pick up your tickets at the brand new Welcome Center.
Park in the parking lot and they will bus you up to Monticello,
or you can walk if you like - it's about a 10 minute walk up the
hill.
It
can take most of the morning to explore the grounds, museum and
mansion. A great place for lunch is a local favorite, located
at the back of the Welcome Center, called The Café
at Monticello. It is run by Foods
of All Nations, a local specialty grocery store. If the weather
is not good for outside dining, the café is our suggestion
for lunch. If it's crowded, get it to go and you can eat in Arcady's
dining room or your suite.
Or,
if you're on the President's
Pass (includes Monticello, Michie Tavern Museum and Ashlawn-Highland)
you may want to drive the other 2 miles or so from Monticello
to Michie Tavern for
their Colonial Lunch. There you can visit the museum and shop
in the Country Store for that gift for the baby sitter!
The
third historical stop is about 4 miles from Arcady - Ashlawn-Highland,
Monroe's home. This is a smaller "Gentleman Farmer's"
home. Just park and walk up to the gift shop where you can purchase
your ticket (unless you are already on the President's Pass) and
they will direct you to the front of the home to wait for your
tour. Tours run about every 15 minutes.
On
your way back to Arcady you may want to stop at Jefferson's Vineyard
for a tasting after all that hard work touring!
If
you are a die-hard history fan, you'll want to tour Montpelier,
Madison's home as well, which is a 30 minute drive north of Arcady.
